The irrepressible Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett), mother of the Enterprise's counselor Deanna Troi, visits the station with a group of Federation ambassadors. When Lwaxana's broach is stolen at Quark's, Odo (Reni Auberjonois) catches the thief and returns it. She is immediately taken with the shape-shifter. Meanwhile, an unidentified alien probe comes through the wormhole. As O'Brien (Colm Meaney) studies the vessel with the station's computer, Odo struggles to fend off Lwaxana's advances. Much to his chagrin, they are trapped together in one of the Turbolifts - alone at last. Back in Ops, O'Brien believes the probe has somehow altered the station's computer, but his attempts to fix the problem result in a massive plasma explosion in the guest quarters.
